On Oct. 24, 2018, the TRPA Governing Board adopted the new Shoreline Plan that sets development caps and regulations for boating and new shoreline structures such as piers and buoys. The plan includes the new shorezone regulations (Chapters 80 to 85 of the TRPA Code of Ordinances) and a Shoreline Implementation Program. The cost of these TRPA programs will be paid for through new fees taking effect in 2019.
While we've waited 34 years to secure our rights, implementation of the permitting process by TRPA staff to fairly allocate and manage the allowable moorings and piers is going to be a slow and arduous process, requiring our persistent engagement and monitoring. We are already working with TRPA staff to make sense of their requirements and complicated applications to ensure your property rights are protected.
Throughout 2019 TLOA will keep our members informed with frequent updates.
