Proposed Rate Reduction
TLOA and California State Lands Commission (CSLC) invite you to a workshop on the proposed revisions to California pier and buoy rental rates. State lands’ staff will present the proposed negotiated rates for adoption at a future CSLC Commission meeting.
Highlights of the negotiated rates include:
- Reduction in rent for buoys
Currently $377/year, Initial Proposal $516/year – Proposed $194/year
- Reduction in rent for piers
Currently $0.79/sq ft, Initial Proposal $1.01/sq ft – Proposed $0.42/sq ft
Every five years, CSLC analyzes rental rates for piers and buoys. However, in 2017 CSLC staff proposed an approximate 35% increase over 2012 rates. After six months of negotiations and meetings, TLOA and CSLC staff have negotiated rate decreases resulting in greater savings for California lakefront owners.
For instance - If you own 2 buoys, under the new proposal your annual rental rate will be reduced from $754 to $388, a $366 savings! - compared to the CSLC initial proposal which would have increased your annual buoy rent to $1,032.
TLOA and CSLC appreciate your input over the past several months and look forward to hearing from you on this proposal.
