On Oct. 24, 2018, the TRPA Governing Board adopted the new Shoreline Plan that sets development caps and regulations for boating and new shoreline structures such as piers and buoys. The plan includes the new shorezone regulations (Chapters 80 to 85 of the TRPA Code of Ordinances) and a Shoreline Implementation Program. The cost of these TRPA programs will be paid for through new fees taking effect in 2019.
While we've waited 34 years to secure our rights, implementation of the permitting process by TRPA staff to fairly allocate and manage the allowable moorings and piers is going to be a slow and arduous process, requiring our persistent engagement and monitoring.
- Learn about the application process and prepare yourself before beginning by reviewing the new pier application questions listed in the pier information packet: http://www.trpa.org/wp-content/uploads/NEW_PIER_PROCESS.pdf
- ONLY start your online application when you are ready to go through to the end and submit payment by credit card. TRPA is having issues with extra fees being added when people stop and restart applications.
- When you are ready, you will apply through the Accela Citizen Access online portal: (https://aaweb.trpa.org/CitizenAccess/Default.aspx). You need to create an account and log in to start an application. The application cost is $714 (inclusive of the IT fee).
