TRPA Mooring Lottery Application Period Opens Dec. 1
November 13, 2020
Beginning December 1 - if you have registered your existing moorings - applications for new moorings such as buoys and boat lifts, can be submitted to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency by eligible lakefront owners for the first lottery drawing allowed under the Lake Tahoe Shoreline Plan. The TRPA is calculating the allocations which is expected to be a little over 300 moorings. A mooring lottery will be conducted annually until all allocations are distributed.

Applications for the lottery can be submitted anytime from December 1, 2020 through March 1, 2021 and all applications submitted before the deadline will be considered equally. The lottery drawing is scheduled to take place April 1, 2021.
Applicants must meet certain criteria to enter, however the drawing is only for an allocation. If an allocation is received after the April drawing, a complete permit application will be required. Only littoral shoreline properties, those that adjoin or are above the highwater line of Lake Tahoe, are eligible to apply. And, your existing moorings must have been registered in 2020 and you must have your BMP Certificate of Completion prior to entering the lottery.
