BMP Compliance Is Key To Helping Lake Clarity
Have you completed installation of your BMPs? Every property owner in the Lake Tahoe basin is required to obtain a Certificate of Completion for the installation of BMPs. BMPs keep sediment and erosion from negatively impacting the lake and tributaries. If you’ve done your part, be sure to inspect regularly and maintain as needed. Keeping them at optimum levels will protect our watershed.
If you need to complete your BMPs or think you may need some guidance even if you’ve already completed them, free services are available to residential owners in Nevada and California. Both Tahoe Conservation Districts are ready to assist Nevada and California owners with BMP retrofit plans. In California, technical assistance for water-wise landscaping and fertilizer management are also available. A technician will visit your property, evaluate your needs, and provide you with a BMP Retrofit Plan to ensure compliance with the TRPA mandate. Once you have completed your BMP retrofit, the technician will return to conduct a final inspection and if everything looks good, they will request a BMP Certificate of Completion from the TRPA on your behalf.
