TRPA Online Tree Removal Application & Permit Program
If you have any dead, dying, or hazardous trees, TRPA is offering an online application process for inspection and permitting.
If the house is along the lakeshore, a permit is required to remove trees greater than 6 inches Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) between the house and the lake, or trees greater than 14 inches DBH that are not between the house and the lake.
Trees of any size that were planted or retained as part of a permit, or that are in a Stream Environment Zone (SEZ) or backshore area, require a permit for removal. The backshore area is the sensitive area adjacent to the lake.
Visit the Trees and Defensible Space page on the TRPA website to request an inspection. The forester will inspect your tree(s) and issue a permit on site.
